Survivor – Eye Of The Tiger Lyrics
"Risin’ up, back on the streetDid my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive"
I felt it was approirate to start off with a few words from the Survivor hit Eye of The Tiger. This was created for Rocky III. While I am not a movie critic, and some folks may say my taste is unique I do feel that inspiration comes from the damnest places.
I look around and see a bird. This bird happens to be a dove that has the most brilliant color. This bird is pure white. Ok, so a dove it's pure white and it pops out of no where. Now I was out marching around taking my camera for a walk when I happened upon this sight. The dove was sitting lonely and lost upon a tree branch. It looked tired and worn out. Life appeared to be hard, but it's feathers shined through out the branches. Is this inspirational or just something beautiful worth seeing?
It is interesting, because currently in life things are tough. Financally changes at my day job and low amount of photo work have made it rather difficult. Makes one feel more appreciative of the the items you have already paid for. I don't want to say more appreciative of the things you have because I am not sure that is true. So back to talking about the things you have paid for. I have a roof over my head, I own my own place. I pay for it every month. If I say I own it, it being the condo, I could be misleading you in that I have a mortage. So, someone could say everyone has that though you still own it. Your house can be taken though, your car can be taken, and even things inside of it heaven forbid. Those items are things you have not paid for. You are still thankful though. What items do we have that are already paid for? Well, those things include a tennis racket, sneakers, or a camera. This thought process got me thinking. How do I capitalize on what I have to make more so I am not living paycheck to paycheck. I want to be able to donate to charities. I want to help my mother and father out when they need money. I am an adult and living paycheck to paycheck is not the way to be.
You also have the mental aspect of it. Is the glass full or the glass empty? If you are thinking the glass is empty then inherently it is empty. You must refill your spirits. Turn that glass upside down and put it in water...what happens? Well the glass will float. Air is trapped inside and the glass cannot sink to the bottom till that air is out. Eventually the glass will tip and fall over, but that happens to everyone and thing. Thankfully we have arms, legs, ears, mind, eyes, etc... We can get up. We have the ability to stand up. Despite the challenge and what is before us the only thing that can really defeat us would be ourselves.
Another Quote from Rocky since it is the theme that started this rant
"...You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you're no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that! I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You're my son and you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain't gonna have a life..." Rocky Balboa
